Tasked with helping the Mercedes-Benz brand connect with a younger more diverse audience, we went back to the beginning to tell one of their greatest stories that not many people know. 

A company that started as a dream of innovation was named after a young girl, Mercedes. Through sharing the dreams of 10 real-world girls also named Mercedes, today this spirit lives on. 

What started as a passion project became a fully woman-produced campaign creating million impressions and positive response around the world.

It all started with a girl.

In 1902, Emil Jellinek – often called the father of the modern automobile – named his line of innovative race cars “Mercedes” after his daughter, Mercedes. His cars won every race, and soon, everyone wanted the car named Mercedes. The naming of the company after his daughter is emblematic of the company’s dedication to the next generation.

Every Mercedes is Born to Chase Dreams

We featured 10 young women named Mercedes from all walks of life living all over the US. We heard from each of them about their dreams for themselves, the world and the future.

Even podcasts got in on the conversation

Womanica and The Accidental Activist, two Wonder Media Network podcasts, featured each Mercedes–shining a light on their dreams for the future, further amplifying their voice and the campaign.
